MyHandScraft Festival: exhibition of multicultural handicraft!
The MyHandScraft project, funded by the Erasmus + Key Action 2, Strategic Partnership for adult education, is coming to an end, and its last stages were celebrated during the final event held on Saturday the 26th of June at Al Fresco, in Palermo: the MyHandScraft Festival.
During the event, CESIE presented the goals of the project and the work carried out during its implementation with a screening of the video interviews of the participants in the local workshops, and a presentation of the results of the second phase of the project. The Handbook for Adult Educators (O4) and the Digital Guide for Handcrafters (O5) are available in the web version at this link , and soon also in a printable version in all the languages of the countries involved in the partnership.
During the event, an exhibition of handicrafts created by migrant and local artisans who participated in the project was also set up. Coming from Chile, Afghanistan, Argentina, Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast, the participants showcased different kinds and handicrafts techniques: clothes and accessories in African fabrics, crocheted clothes and jewellery, furnishings and décor items in recycled material, woodwork and much more. The response from visitors to the exhibition was very positive and allowed participants to make their work known to a wider audience.
The event was also an opportunity to meet again a few months after the conclusion of the local workshops. Based on the E-Educational Programme (O3, accessible for free by registering here), the local workshops allowed the participants to exchange ideas and knowledge around the handicraft field, and provided a unique opportunity to start building networks and future collaborative projects. Within the group, indeed, some collaborative professional projects were born around multicultural crafts, which are already in the planning stage. This is undoubtedly one of the most significant results of this project, whose primary objective was to create synergies between artisans from different parts of the world with an entrepreneurial perspective.
Finally, the exhibition allowed to disseminate and introduce visitors to the objectives, the activities and the resources developed within the project, all accessible on MyHandScraft’s platform.
